Infrared Beam

At the top of the basin, there are 2 mounted components used to detect whether a horse's snout is in the basin or not. We use an infrared emitter and infrared sensor. The emitter lines up with the sensor, allowing the post to identify when a horse's snout has broken the beam. When used in conjunction with the RFID technology, we can monitor individual horse's trends and water consumption.
